Home: My True Colors

I have caught myself reading happily “Interiør Magazinet”(Scandinavian interior magazine) and thought: “Times have changed. Before I used to bury my head in InStyle and other fashion papers”. Is it how adulting looks like? 🙂

I love that Scandinavian magazine. I love their choice of homes, the minimalism, the color palette of whites, grays and quiet blues. When I raise up my head from the pictures, I start noticing the beauty of the everyday detail around me. But as much as I love Scandinavian style of living (and would love to channel that style on my blog), I find myself in the eclectic home, made up by my Catalan man and my Spanish dreams :)) So, maybe, one day my home will be emulating that tranquil minimalistic Scandi attitude – but today I share the mix and fusion that I find at home. Bringing out my true color :))

Some years ago I went to Malaga for the summer course and fell in love with the aesthetics of Andalusia. This is how I had seen Spain in my childhood dreams: guitars, flamenco dresses, black-eyed senoritas. I got a dream then – to buy a collection of local posters, fans and postcards and create my own corner alá Andaluz (olé Alndaluz :)). Two years later I was back to Malaga to buy its images of strong dancing ladies and an old-style poster with the seller pressing your name onto it.

I am a collector by nature, but the life tries to teach me the lesson of minimalism, it seems 🙂 With all the moving, changing my lifestyle, I start to appreciate the values of minimalism and do some efforts on decluttering. Like getting rid of the old magazines which have travelled with me through five different addresses. Sometimes I am good at it, other times – not so much 🙂

I view myself as a hungry Soviet child (more is more) trying to learn the joyfulness of minimalist living (less is more). As long as I enjoy the learning process, everything is fine.   I appreciate the simple solutions, empty clean corners and coziness created with few things. I love the green plants being on trend now and hope this trend will stay with us.

Our home is a mix of masculine and feminine (I guess, just as our personalities are). I view it as a good thing, that yin-yang balance at work, hehe – though it doesn’t look as clean as the interiors of the magazines 🙂 Some corners are more his, some are more mine (you can easily guess which).

Recently I fell in love with the idea of the fusion lifestyle. I guess, our home is just the reflection of it, a Scandi-Spanish fusion. A mix of minimalism, maximalism, hygge, coziness and colors.

And what kind of values are reflected in your home? What are its true colors?
